Phil Day, Superintendent Pharmacist at Pharmacy2U, has released an updated statement on the coronavirus:
“Given recent developments in the government’s response plan to Coronavirus (COVID-19), we wanted to ensure our patients know their medicines are still being dispensed and delivered to their homes. Online services like Pharmacy2U are available for people who need their repeat prescriptions but are unable to or uncomfortable leaving their home at this time.
Our service means people can order their repeat prescriptions online or through our app. We then arrange it with their GP and deliver their medication to their home for free.
The current situation is constantly evolving, so it’s important for all of us to follow the official advice from the UK government and health agencies. All the latest information can be found here.

Dr Sonya Babu-Narayan, British Heart Foundation Associate Medical Director, said:
“There’s a lot we are still learning about how this virus affects people with existing medical conditions. However, information to date suggests that people with heart and circulatory disease, including cerebrovascular disease (problems with the blood supply to the brain, such as stroke) appear to be at higher risk of complications caused by the virus.
If you are living with a heart or circulatory disease, it’s particularly important that you reduce your chance of catching the virus by following and acting on all current government advice.
Symptoms of coronavirus include fever, a cough and can progress to shortness of breath. If you are concerned that you have symptoms caused by the virus you should contact NHS 111 by phone or online.
Coronaviruses encompass a large group of viruses that are responsible for different illnesses, including the common cold. This latest outbreak was transmitted from animals to human, as is the case in several instances. The current outbreak is called a novel coronavirus as it has not been identified previously in humans.
The BHF recommends that everybody closely follows the advice provided on the NHS and Government webpages, as they are updating their information daily.
